(Photo: Colin McPherson)before public safety at Roseacre Wood in Lancashire despite warnings from a planning inspector that a key aspect of the plan is “neither safe nor sustainable”. Proposals by energy firm Cuadrilla to frack there and at another site at Preston New Road, near Blackpool, were thrown out by Lancashire County Council last summer. The firm’s appeal was heard at a public inquiry, with the verdict of planning inspector Wendy McKay sent to Mr Javid. He approved the plan for Preston New Road on the advice of the inspector and said he was “minded” to grant the Roseacre Wood application, subject to road safety issues raised by the inspector being addressed.
